Special Projects Intern

KC NWSL is seeking a passionate, smart, hardworking Special Projects Intern to work with the senior leadership team in building and preparing the team to execute against its objectives.  

The Special Projects Intern will report to the Transitional CEO and will be responsible for shadowing the transitional CEO in meetings, executing both strategic and administrative tasks, developing and managing processes and structures to track and measure progress toward team objectives.  The position requires someone who is both a thinker and a doer; someone who can problem solve with various levels of oversight and roll up their sleeves to get the job done in a fast-paced environment.  The position presents an excellent opportunity to gain a broad perspective on the business of professional sports while participating in the launch of a franchise. 

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Shadow the transitional CEO in various internal and external meetings and track outcomes and required actions from meetings
  • Follow-up on action items including administrative tasks, scheduling, reporting and communication
  • Research and gather information to prepare the executive team for meetings and support decision-making 
  • Develop a team dashboard to track progress on key objectives; manage input and updates from individual contributors and managers across the team 
  • Review incoming requests and communication and triage for management response
  • Draft, review and edit presentations and communications
  • Other projects and duties as assigned to assist senior leadership team


  • Undergraduate Degree or pursuing a degree in Business, Sports Business Administration, Marketing or relevant field
  • Knowledge of and passion for professional women's soccer
  • Superior presentation and editing, proofreading skills; meticulous attention to detail
  • Willingness to take on strategic and administrative tasks
  • Ability to quickly assess a situation, identify what needs to be done, and get it done with varying levels of direction.  
  • Understanding of marketing metrics and ROI methods
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects at an incredibly fast pace
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to lead meetings and teams
