Kansas City NWSL Partners with Saint Luke's Health System

Nationally-recognized healthcare system will serve as Official Medical Provider

KANSAS CITY (Sept. 28, 2021) – Kansas City NWSL and Saint Luke’s Health System announced a multi-year partnership centered on bringing innovative, comprehensive medical care to the team, and developing a platform to better the health of those in the community.

Saint Luke’s will appear on the front of KC NWSL’s home and away kits, as well as all jerseys available to fans, beginning with the 2022 NWSL season. For the remainder of the 2021 season, Saint Luke’s will be featured on the back of the team’s kit.

“From day one, we’ve known we wanted a medical partner who shares both our relentless commitment to excellent clinical care and high performance for our athletes, and our connection to the community,” said team Co-Founder and Co-Owner Angie Long, “Saint Luke’s is the perfect fit and we’re excited to begin collaborating.”

As the Official Medical Provider of KC NWSL, Saint Luke’s will provide comprehensive healthcare to KC NWSL players. This includes Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute, recognized as one of the nation’s top 25 cardiology and heart surgery programs by U.S. News and World Report. The partnership will create an opportunity for research and innovation to advance cardiac care in athletes.

Additionally, both organizations will partner annually to host ‘Heart Health Awareness Night,’ and beginning in 2022, ‘KC Kicks Cancer Night.’ These and other future programs will serve to amplify important medical information in an effort to educate fans and improve the health of those in the region.

“Saint Luke’s is proud to partner with KC NWSL and to serve as the Official Medical Provider for the team,” said Melinda L. Estes, MD, Saint Luke’s Health System President and CEO. “Both our organizations are deeply committed to Kansas City and passionate about supporting a healthy, active lifestyle for athletes and fans alike. Kansas City has embraced this team and we are honored to have the opportunity to partner with them at the beginning of what we know is going to be an incredible legacy for women’s sports and female athletes in this city.”

The partnership will also offer the opportunity to recognize Saint Luke’s employees and patients through special seating at matches, as well as in-match experiences.

“Saint Luke’s is widely recognized as one of the top medical providers in the country,” said Amber Cox, KC NWSL COO. “Especially the past year and a half, our healthcare providers have been the true heroes of our community, putting their own lives on the line to save the lives of others. Through this partnership, we’re looking forward to finding creative ways to say ‘thank you’ to those who deserve it most.”

KC NWSL is in its first season of play, led by Owners Angie and Chris Long and Brittany Matthews, and will be in action on Saturday, Oct. 2 against the Houston Dash at Legends Field at 7 p.m. CT. KC NWSL recently began construction of a $15 million training facility in Riverside, Mo.
